those shooting stars
AIN'T ANSWERING NO WISHES
She skidded on a bit of ruble, slid on a rusty piece of metal, and got her foot stuck in a hole. Her coat was missing, and the abnormally faded lime green coloured dress that she was wearing had dirt stains and grease stains and some questionable speckles of a red substance. Her hair was messier than normal, and she was entirely too scruffily indecent; with the majority of the top part of her dress cut open down the middle, and her black stockings ruined with a numerous amount of holes. Her boots were muddy and dusty. She was holding onto a katana with blood dripping down over the hilt. Her face was a mess, with blood stains and a few little nicks from bullets that had gotten a little too close, and her lip was only now starting to swell down.
For the first time in a long while, Akiko felt absolutely exhausted.
She hadn’t slept in more then two days; she’d been exerting an inhuman amount of energy that she didn’t have to begin with; she’d been shot at a countless amount of times; she’d killed a few people, including her target; her head was throbbing from when she’d hit the back of it after falling down… but despite all of that, she was insanely happy and smug and very, very thirsty. She collapsed down, amongst a broken building in a place where presumably no one was around. It took some effort, and the rest of her energy supply, but she managed to fiddle around in the small pack she kept strapped to her belt, and pulled out a silver flask and a pair of surgical tweezers.
There was a bullet, a small one that hadn’t gone too far in, impaled in her right thigh that she reasoned couldn’t be left to deal with later. Hitomi would chuck a tantrum if the body wasn’t relatively taken care of, and if she wasn’t happy, Fumiko would be up Akiko’s ass about respect, and Shizuka would just PMS about everyone bitching. And of course, Akiko would growl and snarl and glare and them all. Yell at them, threaten them, and lecture them. Because she was the most dominate, wasn’t she? She was the leader, the protector, the one who kept the body alive and fed and clothed, because she took on the jobs and fought for money and killed some people. So what if there were a few jugs of blood missing, and some scratches and wounds? They’d survive, they would.
She frowned, tch’ed, and pushed her thoughts away. It’d be less trouble for her now if she just hurried up and dealt with the damn thing. So she unscrewed the cap on the flask; poured some of it over the tweezers to sterilize it, and with a wince, she poured some into the bullet wound, too. It sizzled and tingled and stung like hell, but she’d had much worse, so she sucked it up and acted like the man she probably should have been. Taking the tweezers, Akiko carelessly (because she didn’t have time to go through the long measured instructions that Hitomi had written up for in case of this type of even occurring) plunged them into the bullet hole, and wiggled them around a bit until she had a good grip on the pesky little bullet. She gritted her teeth and pulled, tugged, wriggled some more, and then quite viciously, she just ripped the little sucker out.
She held the bullet up to her eyes, and while it wasn’t much of a big deal, she was glad she had taken the time to cut the head off of the bastard who had shot her. It just made running away from a massacre scene all the more troublesome. Blood was oozing down the side of her thigh and she groaned at the thought of having to stitch the wound up. Rummaging around the pack a little more, Akiko pulled out a jar of jelly looking glue. Hitomi had procured it in a small little health shop in Eradius. She had given a brief instruction that when applied to a wound, it would block off any bleeding for an estimated amount of time, depending on the seriousness. Akiko mumbled something that might have been a ‘thank the health fanatic’, and applied a generous amount to the wound to fill it in and around. Hopefully it would hold out until she woke up with enough energy to deal with it. Assuming she would wake up within the next three hours.
She fell back under the shade of a lonely, small wall that was still standing. It was a ridiculously hot day; she could only presume she was in Estor. But she couldn’t recall exactly if it was Estor or Thurica that was in ruins, and she didn’t really care at this point. She’d done her job; found the hideout of a crime dealer that had pissed off some high ranking official, and dealt with him and his lackey’s quickly and relatively efficiently. It had been in the middle of what may as well of been a desert, a few miles from the coast line. She hadn’t had the mind to deal with the mess, or burn the bodies as was her trademark signature. She’d only been worried about finding a safe place to hide out for a while and sleep for too long. She’d walked, because she couldn’t ever remember how to drive, what must have been for a whole day without realizing it. In the blistering hot sun, with a bad leg and no energy reserves, she was more or less feeling like crap by now.
“Sweet dreams,” she mumbled without much thought. Her katana was gripped tightly to her chest; she was using a well placed rock as a pillow, and the dusty ground beneath her made her want to sneeze – but she was happily and most soundly asleep within a second of closing her eyes.
She slept for the rest of the day, and well into the night. The glue had worn off, and she was bleeding again, had been for about five hours. But she still refused to abandon her dreamless slumber.

comments, akiko's surprisingly fun to play! i haven't worked with akiko as a personality, much. mostly it's just been masami and shizuka. but she's kind of cool. she'll probably switch next post, though.
